About me
Maria Getz Beery currently serves as the middle and high school drama club advisor Ohio Virtual Academy where she also teaches high school English. She is also a drama teacher and director at Richland Academy of the Arts in Mansfield, Ohio. Previously, she served as the chair of the performing arts department and middle and upper school drama teacher and director at York Preparatory School, where she created the drama curriculum for a diverse population of learners, and as a drama teacher and director at Convent of the Sacred Heart School. She has spent five summers as an English and drama instructor in the Upward Bound program at her alma mater, Bowling Green State University, where she earned her M.A. in theatre and M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, as well as a graduate certificate in TESOL. She has previously presented at AATE, as well as the TYA/USA One Theatre World conference and the Autism and Arts Symposium. As an arts educator and director, she has created and adapted curriculum for students with various learning styles and challenges, as well as explored ways to accommodate students in the rehearsal process. She is a member of AATE and TYA/USA, as well as Actor's Equity.
