About me
Shelby Newport is a professor of theatre at the University of Michigan-Flint. She is the chair of the Department of Fine & Performing Arts and the director of the Arts Administration graduate program. She previously served as Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at UM-Flint. Shelby is a professional coach, focusing on coaching for creatives. She received her M.F.A. from Purdue University, completed her undergraduate studies at Cornell College and trained as a coach with Yes, And Coaching Institute and the International Coaching Federation. She designs costumes regionally in Michigan at Detroit Public Theatre, Tipping Point Theatre, Flint Repertory Theatre, and is a Resident Artist at Purple Rose Theatre Company.
