About me
Steven James Higginbotham hails from Cleveland, Ohio, and has worked as a director, choreographer, educator, performer, and leader in collegiate, community, and professional arts organizations for over 25 years. Steven holds a BFA in Theatre Education (University of Arizona) and MFA in Directing (Florida State University). As a director/choreographer, his work has been staged at the Kennedy Center's American College Theatre Festival, La MaMa Umbria, Carousel Music Theatre, Huntington Playhouse, and others. In higher education, Steven has held faculty and leadership positions at Eastern Kentucky University, Eastern Arizona College, and Pima College, and he currently serves as Professor and Chair of the Theatre Department at Coastal Carolina University. Steven beams with pride for his students – they are performing on Broadway, starring on network television, appearing in feature films, and working professionally as theatre educators, scholars, practitioners, technicians, stage managers, and directors in venues nationwide.
